Harry Redknapp seems to be feeling the after effects of Spurs’s three straight losses. He is now put himself in the doubtful category for the England job. A month ago, everyone and anyone had predicted that he would it offered on a platter and with a blank check.

“I’m not sure. I have a very good job at Tottenham and I like it here.”

The only reason why Redknapp is considered a favourite for England manager is what he is done with Spurs. But his tactics of late have come in for some hard searching questions. Spurs have conceded 11 goals in the last three games through some abysmal defending.

The Arsenal match was an eye opener. With a two goal cushion, Spurs granted the Gunners to push them back as Redknapp kept on an ineffective Adebayor and brought on Sandro. The midfield collapsed. Against United, Wayne Rooney was granted to break free to head home against the run of play. Spurs enjoying the lion share of possession till then were completely deflated and Utd knocked in two more goals. Everton ran out winners on a Jelavic goal as Spurs were unable to assert themselves once again.

If Spurs continue to unravel, Redknapp will walk himself out of contention. The FA seems to be in no hurry to hire much to the discomfort of the punditry. But their wait and watch tactics might be necessary given Redknapp’s present struggles. They bundled out Fabio Capello in unseemly fashion and now they do not want to get hurried into a decision.
