Like an old west gunslinger pulling a quickdraw from his hip, Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has been quick to fire back with a response to Real Madrid’s recent comments over their possible January move for defender Daniel Agger. He wants all interested parties to know that the Dane isn’t on the market!
“The situation is very easy
, Daniel Agger is our player and he’snot for sale,” said
the Reds boss.
“His future is at Anfield and nowhere else.
“He knows my ideas because we’ve
talked with him and he has a long future with us.
“We don’t
want to lose our concentration just before we play Manchester City by talking
about other things but it is important that people know that Agger isn’t
for sale.” (Liverpool ECHO)
Well that was quick. I can comprehend
Rafa’s current stance on Agger: he’s been out almost
all of last year, and because of it, he’s had to go out and find a replacement to fill his role on the squad. Now with a number of other players currently vying for the central role, Agger is now finding it hard to get start
ing minutes.
For Agger his role at Liverpool has become a bit of a waiting game. With the club currently playing some fantastic football, most would believe he’ll remain on the bench for the near future. I’m almost
certain Rafa will find a place for him in the squad soon, however. What I can assure Agger is that if he goes to Madrid, his chances of first team football will become even worse.
What do Liverpool supporters think? Should the club sell Agger to Madrid in the January window; or should they keep him at Anfield?
